Common questions
What should I do if the police ask me to appear?
Ask for the notice in writing, attend on the date given and speak to an advocate before you go. You are entitled to legal advice, and what you say at this stage matters. Call us as soon as you receive a notice or learn that a complaint has been made.
What is anticipatory bail, and when should I apply?
Anticipatory bail is an order that you be released on bail if you are arrested for a particular offence. It is sought from the Sessions Court or the High Court when arrest is reasonably apprehended, usually as soon as you learn of an FIR or complaint. Early application matters, so contact us without delay.
Can an FIR be quashed?
The High Court may quash an FIR or criminal proceedings under Section 528 BNSS where the allegations do not disclose an offence, the proceedings are an abuse of process, or the parties have lawfully settled a matter the law permits them to settle. We assess the FIR and the material with it before advising a petition.
I am the victim. Can I have my own advocate?
Yes. A victim may engage an advocate to assist the prosecution with the court’s permission, file a private complaint where the police do not act, and seek protection and compensation. We represent complainants and victims through investigation, trial and appeal.
